God works in mysterious ways. I am constantly in awe. We have had more phone call inquiries this past week than ever before. We had a lovely new potential member visiting with us two afternoons and another lovely new potential member Wellness Consultation.
Our one year anniversary party went well last Tuesday, except I forgot to get out the corn hole game and prizes in the midst of all the commotion and conversation. We had a great turn out, including some visitors from Western Kentucky. Thank you so much to all you volunteers who brought food and love!
Two of our guests at the party were a precious couple who have been married 65 years. The husband was having trouble walking and even standing for any length of time. His shoes were untied. He said he wanted them untied because he cannot bend over to tie them himself and he was too proud to have his wife do it. I warned him that having them untied was a fall risk. He said he didn’t care. That made me sad because falls are known to put people in the hospital and then into a nursing home permanently. I invited him to come and exercise with us for no charge but I have not heard from them. He even told me that his doctor told him to exercise to build muscle to help his ability to walk and stand. That is what we are here for.
Another guest was a woman whose mother is coming to spend some time with us after she is discharged from rehab. I so look forward to meeting her!
I am also happy to announce that my mother-in-law, Marjorie, will be joining us at the club starting next week! As many of you know, Marjorie and my father-in-law Milford, who has passed, were my inspiration for creating the health club for seniors back in 2007 and 2008.
Don’t forget our special events each month:
Silver Sneakers classes each Wednesday at 2:00. Free to those who have Silver Sneakers as part of their Medicare Part B health insurance policy.
Free Yoga every Tuesday at 6:00. Bring your own mat (we do have a couple extra in case you forget). We will care for the one you care for while you are doing yoga at no charge. Caregivers need yoga for stress relief and health improvement!
Last Thursday of each month at 6:00 pitch in dinner while we improve our financial literacy. Ladies only. Bring a salad, vegetable, fruit or a bread. I’ll have some chicken breast slices and something to drink.
Thank you for reading this and may God bless you and yours beyond measure this week. His will be done.
