Happy Memorial Day! That expression always seems strange to me, since this is a holiday for remembering fallen soldiers, sailors, and other people we knew and cared about. But after careful consideration, Memorial Day can be happy if one has happy memories attached to the deceased loved one. Making happy memories is so important…especially after those we knew and cared about are gone. Making happy memories is not an easy task, but well worth the work.

Speaking of work, the pictures above were taken just a few minutes ago (5:45 pm) on Memorial Day. It was sprinkling outside. As you can see, we have come a long way but there is still much to do. The devil is in the details, as the saying goes. Details take a lot of time to complete. The building is going to be a fantastic clubhouse when we are finished. I can’t wait to show it to you all! We will be able to offer all the medical necessities just like a nursing home does, but in a country club and spa like atmosphere, with an emphasis on exercise and prevention. And everyone goes home at 6:00 to sleep in their own beds!

My son and grandsons moved back in with us this past week, but under new terms. I am no longer going to be their primary caregiver. That is their father’s responsibility. I will be the back up person and ready to cuddle anytime I am home!

I did take care of them quite a bit this week during the moving process, however. Here is the six year old with his creation from Jenga blocks. He made a man. Then his little brother knocked it over, as he always does when his big brother builds something nice and gets all the attention for it.

My father, who is 82 and lives in Louisville, fell Saturday morning. He did not want to go to the hospital at first, but later acquiesced and discovered he had a neck fracture! I am so sad that he fell, but glad he was not paralyzed from it. I wish we had a health club for seniors for him to join in Louisville. He would love it, but he is not willing to move to Lexington yet. Like most seniors, he loves his long time home and does not want to leave it till he leaves this earth.

Well, friends, hope you are rested and ready to go back to work tomorrow. Most of all, I hope you made some happy memories this holiday weekend!
