Kristy
Kristy and I met back in 2011, when she came to my house as a licensed practical nurse to pay my mother-in-law a medical visit ordered by her doctor and paid for through Medicare. She came quite a few times that year. Kristy lives in my neighborhood but I didn’t see her very often after my mother in law moved to Indianapolis.
I met Kristy again when I was working at Liberty Ridge Assisted Living Community in 2013. She was still working for the same company and was paying residents there a medical visit.
We kept in touch and I asked her advice when we were putting together the Wellness Map. That was in 2014, and she had changed jobs and was working at the VA on Leestown Rd.
Kristy is still a nurse at the VA, and I think she deserves a medal because she is a hero…a different kind of hero, but a hero nonetheless. She selflessly serves the veterans by tending to their medical needs. Only those familiar with nursing know how smelly and disgusting that can be, but Kristy does it without complaining or shirking.
Kristy works here on Saturdays, and she has a husband, two teenage twin boys and a couple of dogs that keep her really busy too. I admire her devotion to her husband and sons. And I admire how hard she works. Seems like she has always had a part time job in addition to her full time job. I don’t know how she fits it all in!
She is smart too, learning what she needs to know to get ahead in life. Kristy is always ready to learn something new and has a great attitude about life in general….with a sense of humor. I love her giggle!
Thank you Kristy, for sharing your time with us here at Aging With Grace. You are a blessing!
