Yep, I am a day late….and a dollar short, as the saying goes. But I am not really a dollar short, because we closed on our business loan last Friday. But of course now the clock starts ticking on the time in which we have to pay it back. And we signed our lease and made the first month’s rent payment and the last two month’s rent payment as a deposit. Risky business, especially when one considers that we don’t have any customers yet, because we don’t have our license to operate a medical facility yet. We passed our state building inspection last week (although there are many little ‘things’ that remain to be done), which is a prerequisite for filing a request for a license. We also have to be inspected by the state Fire Marshall, and pass, before filing for the license. We are still waiting for him to come inspect. I have heard it takes over a month to get inspected by the Office of the Inspector General after filing, so in the meantime we are reaching out to the community by offering free educational seminars by experts in their field.  So far we have a financial planner, Andrew Hart, CFP, who will be speaking on Monday, June 15 at 10:30 about How to Pay for Health Care After Retirement, Including Long Term Care. Another speaker is a lawyer, Matthew Smith, JD, who will be speaking on Thursday, June 18 at 10:30 about General Legal Matters for Baby Boomers. Wehave a ribbon cutting scheduled June 26 at 3:00 with Commerce Lexington, of which we are members. Please consider yourself invited if you are reading this. We will have refreshments and entertainment. I will also be speaking on Monday June 15 at 2:00 on “What We Are About”.

We want to be a resource for the community. We want to be known as a friendly place where visitors are always welcome, even if they just have a question they would like answered. We will do our best to answer any question. And if we do not know the answer, we will point you to someone who may.

Another risky business is budgeting. There are so many items to buy when starting a business. We have to weigh the cost against the value (usefulness), and return on our investment. Advertising costs a fortune. Recently, my days have been so hectic that I have not taken the time to review the budget. That is on my to-do list for this week.

And also in the meantime we will be decorating and practicing and training and practicing some more. Anyone willing to be a test subject for a spa treatment?

I almost forgot…the Lexington Council Garden Club Tours are this Saturday and Sunday. https://www.lexgardenclubs.org/ There are nine gardens in Lexington and each is a unique jewel. As a member, I will be selling/taking tickets on Sunday afternoon. Hope I have time to tour some gardens too, since I already bought our tickets!

May you and yours have a blessed week!
