Last Monday I called Bluegrass Care Navigators and asked them to enroll my mother in law. She had declined significantly over the weekend. I won’t go into detail, but there are signs that the time is near and my mother in law was exhibiting most of them. Bluegrass Care Navigators has several divisions for helping seniors age gracefully and Hospice is one of the divisions. They made arrangements for help to come to our house on Wednesday.

Tuesday was my mother in law’s last day at the club. I put myself in my mother in law’s place because I believe in doing unto others as I would like done unto me, and it was time for her to be in bed all the time, not helped into and out of a wheelchair and onto a bus each weekday. I knew I had made the right decision when a Wheels bus driver, who had not seen my mother in law since before her fall, came to pick her up Tuesday and was distraught at her present state. He said, “Her family should be keeping her at home”. I love the Wheels bus drivers. It costs a lot of money to keep people at home though, if there is not enough friends and family available to volunteer their time through the week.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays we are going to pay a caregiver to be at our home with Marjorie.
