Jacob

Jacob is our community outreach director here at Aging With Grace. Jacob is our youngest son, and at age 26 and single, he is spreading his wings and flying solo from the nest. We can’t afford to pay him a salary, so for now he works on commission, and he has not been earning very much. He also earns money when he substitutes for his brother, Eli, the dining director here, when the need arises, like when Eli’s third son was being born in October. I am so grateful for his willingness to pitch in when we need extra help here, too. Sometimes he comes in just to hang out and talk with the members and read the paper and of course he doesn’t get paid for that. So he has a second job working at Carrabba’s waiting tables.

Jacob is full of good ideas and seems to be a natural born business person. When he was a middle schooler, unbeknownst to me, he tried to do business at school by ordering odiferous whoopy cushions on the internet and selling them at school. He was sent home for a few days as punishment. He also tried to sell pencils after that, but was forbidden to continue because he was competing with their bookstore sales. I always thought they should have rather directed him to business classes and encouraged his entrepreneurial spirit.

Jacob has a high emotional I.Q., which is very helpful when dealing with people. He seems to know what people are feeling intuitively, and has a genuine desire to create win-win situations https://www.stephencovey.com/7habits/7habits-habit4.php

I look forward to seeing Jacob continue to spread those wings and fly to wherever God leads him. I gave each of my sons to God before they were born. I prayed, “God, you are the author of life. This life within me is yours. Please help me to be the mother you want me to be”. That is still my prayer.
