It’s time to gear up for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on August 27 at 10:00 at the courthouse in Lexington. Registration begins at 9:00, and the ceremony starts at 9:45. Hope the weather will be good this year. Last year it was in September and freezing cold and rainy on the day of the walk. There was still a phenomenal turn out though, as always. I have been going on the walk every year for about five years now…PLEASE GO TO OUR TEAM PAGE AND DONATE! IT IS FAST AND EASY! FAMILIES ARE OUT THERE SUFFERING AND NEED HELP FROM THE ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION! https://act.alz.org/site/TR?pg=personal&px=6687971&fr_id=9018 They have really helped me when I needed help so I know the value of what they offer.
One of my favorite services that they provide is the 24/7 hotline. I know someone whose husband lost his memory one day! It was so scary for her! He had been working out of doors on a really hot day and he came in confused and asked her crazy questions, which she answered as best she could, but then he asked them over and over as if for the first time! She called the 24/7 hotline and they said to ask him to sit down and drink some water and to keep calm and maybe it would pass. It did…but not until the next day. It saved a trip to the emergency room. That was two years ago and he has never had another episode. Weird, huh? Especially concerning since his father had full blown Alzheimer’s for the last two years of his life.
May you and yours be blessed abundantly this coming week!
