Anthony

Anthony rang our doorbell back in October, just as we were getting to know a new member who only spoke Spanish. Anthony was an answer to prayer, because he speaks Spanish, and we were feeling frustrated because our new member seemed to want to communicate with us, but we could not understand him. With Anthony translating, we soon discovered that our new member was indeed communicating, but not sensibly. We did not need to worry about understanding to provide the good care and attention for which we are known. Anthony taught us some important words in Spanish to help us meet our new member’s needs, which was very helpful. ‘Helpful’ is the best single word for describing Anthony.

Anthony has seen and accomplished many things for his young years. He has traveled far and wide, but I will save the details of his adventures for Anthony to tell. Anthony is a freshman at Bluegrass Community and Technical College, studying to be a Registered Nurse and then a Nurse Practitioner someday. Anthony was a band student in high school and is still, now that he is in college. His drum skills are so good that he competed in a National competition this past October down in Georgia (but he won’t know how he fared for several more months). He drove there and back all by himself in a weekend!

Another good word for describing Anthony is ‘caring’. Anthony has the agape kind of love for his fellow man (and woman) that is essential for giving the good care to our members that we would want for ourselves or our loved ones. Anthony will be an excellent Nurse Practitioner, and I would be happy to have him as my Nurse Practitioner someday….after he gets his license, that is;-) Right now, Anthony is one of our Club ANSRs, certified as a nurse aid, and very capable in that capacity.

While Anthony is studying, I am happy he is here helping us, and I hope he stays with us a long, long, time.
