Hello Beautiful People!

I have a Norman Rockwell way of looking at people. They are all beautiful, and the more unique they look, the more I like looking at them.

My newest grandson is now a month old. I was struck with how much he looks like an elderly man…not sure just who, but someone familiar.

This picture was taken in my dining nook at home, and is of my grandson and my Christmas cactus that was given to me in ‘starts’ by our landlord’s office manager back in February. Thank you. I think of you each time I look at it.

Thank you, God, for my grandson. I think of you each time I look at him.

I missed my garden club meeting this month because I had to do payroll. We are switching over to a new system and it is taking more time than we anticipated. And our staff wants and deserves to be paid. Staffing is our highest cost and our highest priority. Aging With Grace is who we are because of our staff.

That is why I want to tell you about Misty, our RN Wellness Consultant. She is very modest, and would not like to know that I am going to brag on her here, but I must. She has already saved two of our members from possible health disasters by catching problems before they got out of control. One was a blood clot and one was dangerously high blood sugar levels. She has also designed some new elements for our Wellness Maps, to help track fluid and food intakes and outputs, and to track any and all observations concerning our member’s health. We are calling the new section: Journaling the Journey (to your best health possible). Misty is very intelligent and logical and has a great sense of humor. She often surprises people with her Eastern Kentucky accent and grammar, and enjoys their reaction to it. Most of all, I appreciate Misty’s heart of gold. Yes, I am sure of it. It must be made of pure gold.

I can’t mention Misty without mentioning Holly. Holly is a twelve year veteran of the army and is our LPN Club Planner. She also has a heart of gold and maybe a little fire, because she is passionate about making sure everyone is treated with dignity and respect to the point of action. Watch out, you who are not kind to those in less fortunate circumstances! Holly is also certified in this really cool healing art called Bowen Therapy, and I can testify to it’s effectiveness. I was in a lot of pain because of my shoulder earlier this week and Holly ‘fixed’ it!

I can’t mention Misty and Holly without mentioning Kristy, and Amanda, and Anthony, and Lorraine. Sweet Lorraine. And Eli, and Jacob. There is too much to say about each one of our staff members to fit into a weekly blog, so please come in and meet them and get to know them yourselves. I am going to tell you about each one on different weekly posts from now on.

May you and yours have a glorious and healthy week ahead!
