The Present: December 29

December 29, 20142.5 min

We are shopping for a payroll service that is compatible with a card swipe entry system. Members as well as staff  of the health club for seniors will have their time accounted for upon entering and exiting the building. I just enjoyed meeting with a representative from Paychex, named Stacey. She is beautiful and smart and is getting married in the spring. I am looking forward to meeting with another beautiful and smart representative from Paytime. And ADP is supposed to get back with me after the holidays.

I love young people and that is one reason I became a teacher and a mother. I have seen that young people often take their good health for granted. Most young people do not work to improve their health, but instead abuse their bodies by eating junk food, drinking, smoking, experimenting with drugs and other risky behaviors. Who said “youth is wasted on the young”? Most sources say George Bernard Shaw. In any case, it seems it is true regarding health. Blessed is the young person who realizes that good health is a gift to be cherished and cared for.

I like the slideshow from the folks who produce Reader’s Digest, found at: http://www.rd.com/slideshows/10-bad-habits-and-the-best-ways-to-quit-them/ because it succinctly hits on the most common serious lifestyle threats to our health.

This is the time of year when, in our culture, we think about beginning again, having a fresh start, making promises to be better in some area of our lives where we are lacking. If you are not practicing healthy lifestyle choices, please resolve to change. Let’s make 2015 “The Year of Healthy Choices”!

By the way, I just signed up today to participate in the seminar “In His Image” offered at Immanuel Baptist Church on January 24. If you are interested, please go to: http://www.kybaptist.org/inhisimage/

Author MeMe Perdue, in cooperation with Baptist Health and the Kentucky Baptist Convention Women’s Ministry, will be hosting a series of Bible studies that focus on helping participants find a healthy balance between their physical, spiritual, emotional, social and mental health.
The study, called “In His Image,” is based on Genesis 1:27.
“So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.”
“God has designed each of us in His image,” said Perdue, “and His ultimate desire for our lives is to discover who we are in Christ and to become Christ-like in all of these areas.
“Whether you are facing spiritual, mental, physical, or social barriers, ‘In His Image’ will tackle these issues that stand in your way, and equip you with tools to overcome, stand victorious, and avoid the tragedy of unrealized potential in the life God has given you!”
MeMe Perdue is the wife of Tim Perdue, pastor of First Baptist Church of Eddyville, and the couple have three grown children, Jana, Timmy and Aaron.
